Youth Camp 2017: Greater Confidence: in One’s Self, in One’s Faith with Vivek Guptaji Anika Karumuri, Dakshesh Nimishe and Srijay Kasturi Clarity in life is the key component to reaching conviction. After reaching conviction, one in turn acquires the confidence not only in themselves but in their beliefs as well. This was the core principle of Vivekji’s Youth camp titled Greater Confidence: in One’s Self, in One’s Faith. This camp was a continuation of last years camp. The week long camp was the ideal way to introduce the youth to the teachings of Vibhishana Gita and Sri Rama’s Chariot, Weapons and Armour.
The youth learned about morals such as dharma, bhakti, buddhi and others that were essential to Shri Rama. Vivekji made the concepts relevant to the lives of the the youth by introducing the name and the definition of the concept and expounding upon it with a pragmatics means to practice it. The participants were engaged with philosophy lessons for three hours every day along with athletics, seva and reflection. They tested their physical and mental stamina during the fieldtrip where they had to conquer their fears on the zipline and had to learn to rely on each other with various team building activities.
In the evening they were fortunate to listen to Swami Swaroopananda JI’s discourses on Chapter Four of the Bhagavad Gita. They also had special sessions taught by Swami Dheerananda, Brahmachari Avinash Chaitanya, and Subarna Ghoshji. The lessons taught at this camp are something they will never forget and like last year’s lessons will continue to have a long lasting impact on them.
