Geeta Gyana Yajna by Br Akshaya Chaitanya on Bhagavad Gita chapter 3 (Karma Yoga)
Start Date : 14 Jun 2017 TO End Date : 20 Jun 2017
Chapter three establishes the fact by various points of view that the performance of prescribed duties is obligatory for everyone. Here Lord Krishna categorically and comprehensively explains how it is the duty of each and every member of society to carry out their functions and responsibilities in their respective stage of life according to the rules and regulations of the society in which one lives. Further the Lord explains why such duties must be performed, what benefit is gained by performing them, what harm is caused by not performing them. Plus what actions lead to bondage and what actions lead to liberation. All these points relating to duty have been described in great detail. Thus this chapter is entitled: The Yoga Of Action (Karma Yoga).
Every body works on this earth, but by working they create bondage. Only a few people who are inclined towards the Great Master perform disciplined action and become united with the Supreme Soul. Just by being indifferent to the fruit of an action, they (KarmaYogis) are rewarded for that action innumerable times by God. By un-attachment alone, Janak, the great king of India, realized his true self.
Shri Krishna says to Arjuna, "By constantly surrendering your action with all your heart to my All Knowing Supreme Soul, you fight this battle without any expectations, attachment and agony." The great thing in Karma-Yoga is giving up the fruit of one's actions. In Karma-Yoga, one surrenders the fruit; but the question arises: does the fruit come to one, nevertheless, or does it not? Thus the Third Chapter says that the karma-yogi, by giving up the fruit of his action, does not lose it, but paradoxically enough, gains it in infinite measure.
