The office of Shri Tejaswi Surya, MP, South Bengaluru, conducted a summer camp for children from 6 May to 18 May 2022, held in seven different venues across South Bengaluru in four Legislative Constituencies. Teaching the chanting of a chapter of the Bhagavad Gita was part of the camp and they requested Chinmaya Mission Bengaluru for the herculean task of guiding almost 1300 children.
A slot of 45 minutes per day was allotted for this session and the 12th Chapter of the Bhagavad Gita was taught to the children. The sessions included a few bhajans, stories, a quiz based on the Mahabharata, and discussions based on a few parts of the book ‘In Hindu Culture, Why Do We?’.
The camp went on very well with all the children learning to chant with clarity besides learning several bhajans, stotrams and motivational anecdotes. The concluding session on 19 May 2022 in the holy presence of Pujya Swami Nirmalanandanatha of Adi Chunchanagiri Mutt, was attended by all the children and their parents. A few selected children from each venue chanted on the stage, and this was appreciated by all. It was a unique experience to the Bala Sevikas handling such a huge gathering yet maintaining the high Chinmaya standard. This event was in keeping with Pujya Swami Chinmayananda’s vision of reaching out to the masses and increasing the Bala Vihar base.
