We may have great talents and abilities
but cannot be any lasting gains if they are
used only for worldly purposes.
Akbar, the Moghul emperor had
In his court a galaxy of renowned
poets…musicians…scholars…
Among them was his favourite…
SANGEET SAMRAT…TANSEN.
One day…moved by his singing Akbar declared,
‘Tansen! You are the greatest musician in the world.’
Tansen replied:
‘Compared to my teacher. I am nothing.’
Akbar was greatly intrigued and asked to hear him sing.
However
SWAMI HARIDAS…TANSEN’S TEACHER
refused to come to the royal court
So Akbar travelled to Vrindavan to hear him.
Enchanted by the performance…
Akbar agreed that without doubt…
that his singing far superior to Tansen’s.
He asked for the reason and Tansen replied:
‘O Emperor…My guru sings for the Lord.
With his music:
- he worships the Lord…
- seeks to please only Him.
I sing to please you. That is the difference.’
So…ask:
Whom are we serving?
Whom are we trying to please?
Actions performed in the spirit of
Karma yoga…are totally divinised
when duty is performed as the Lord’s worship
and the results accepted as HIS BLESSINGS.
They leave no scope for:
- laziness
- prohibited actions
- selfish or desire prompted actions
Hanuman’s potential manifested only when
he came in contact with Lord Rama
and dedicated himself to His service.
Capable of astonishing feats…
He was transformed into…
RAMADOOTA HANUMAN
– a totally charged Hanuman!!!
– –Â SWAMI TEJOMAYANANDA.
