Be clear about the GOAL of every action.
Most are vague or confused about this…
….have given little thought to it or have superficial GOALS.
A young boy was asked why he went to college.
He said, “Without a degree no girl will marry me!”
Another was asked why he got married.
He replied, “I am not sure. One day I suddenly found myself married!”
After the event we search for the purpose.
For life to be successful and joyful,
…we must have an inspiring and successful goal.
The immediate goal should be geared to something
…MORE LASTING …more permanent.
Short term needs must lead to…
…the fulfillment of long term GOALS.
EXAMPLE…
Immediate Goal…
A student studies well to join a medical school.
Long Term Goal…
In order to serve humanity.
Those whose immediate goal of having FUN, becomes their only long term and ultimate goal
THEIR PLEASURES end in PRESSURES…
Blood pressure
Family pressure
Economic pressure
Life only taken as a permit for licentious living Or pleasure seeking
WITHOUT family or social responsibility Cannot be happy or fulfilling.
ONLY WHEN geared to something Inspiring and permanent, Will it bring…
- Stability
- Peace
- Growth
- Happiness
We can work hard to achieve the immediate goals of:
- Material Prosperity
- Comfort
- Name, Fame or Power
HOWEVER, the purpose of wealth should not be merely for
Your own PLEASURE AND PROSPERITY.
It should be used TO SERVE OTHERS in the capacity possible.
Do not ONLY think how much your profession can benefit you
But think how:
You can contribute to the profession
You can serve others through your profession
A still HIGHER attitude is
make YOUR WORK A WORSHIP OF GOD
