His Holiness Swami Swaroopananda, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide arrived at Gangtok on 11.12.2017 by helicopter from Bagdogra.
He was welcomed at Civil Helipad, Gangtok by President and members of Chinmaya Mission and a large number of spiritual seekers.
In the evening , Swamiji attended Bhajan Sandhya organized by students of Sikkim Sangitalaya and Yuvaveer Sumit Sharma in his honour at Hotel Sikkim Delight.
During the afternoon of 11th December 17, Swamiji met Executive Committee Members of Chinmaya Mission-Sikkim Centre headed by its President Shri Ganesh Kumar Pradhan. Shri S K Sarda, General Secretary, Chinmaya Mission-Sikkim Centre presented the history of Chinmaya Mission Sikkim Centre since its establishment in 1995.
Yuvaveer Sumit Sharma also presented his report on Gurudeva Vidyalaya at Chhalamthang.South Sikkim.
Brahmchari Smaran Chaitanya also presented his report to Swamiji. Swamiji was satisfied with his work of spreading Chinmaya Vision in Sikkim.
Special mention was made on the Chinmaya Vanam Project at Bulbuley, Gangtok where more than 10099 trees sapling were planted in the year 1997 which have grown now to full trees. Swami Swaroopananda and Swami Mitrananda visited Chinmaya Vanam,Hanuman Tok and had a glorious view of Mount Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak of the world from very close.
Both Swamiji visited Flower Show, Walked through the forest and enjoyed the beauty that nature has been bountiful to Sikkim. Shri S D Dhakal- Vice President and Shri Lalchand Khatri- Treasurer accompanied Swamijis in Gangtok local tour.
Smt Ratna Subba, Smt Shobha Sarda and Smt Padma Khatri looked after the food care of Swamiji.
On 12th December 17, Swamiji met + 400 youths of Sikkim at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok, Sikkim and addressed them on ” SHAPE YOUR DESTINY” to empower them to grow positively in their life and be a positive contributor to the Sikkimese Society.
A pin drop silence for two hours showed how keen the youths are here in Sikkim to learn mind and intellect management for shaping their destiny. The meeting was also addressed by Swami Mitrananda -Trustee of Chinmaya University.
Earlier the programme at Chintan Bhawan started on 12th December 2017 at 11 AM . Both Swamiji were taken to the convention hall of Chintan Bhawan by Commiitee members led by Damai Baza- a traditional musical band of Sikkim.
At Chintan Bhawan Convention hall , the function started with offering of traditional khadas by its President Shri Ganesh Kumar Pradhan to His Holiness Swami Swaroopananda and Swami Mitrananda.
The students from Chandmari Shiv Mandir Sanskrit Pathshala performed Ganesh Vanadana and Shanti Path. Also the students from Sikkim Sangeetalaya, Gangtok performed singing of bhajans.
Speaking to more than+ 400 youths, Pramukh Swamiji called upon youths to understand the mechanism of Mind and Intellect. It is the intellect which should rule over the mind. Mind always moves towards pleasurable things, but intellect reins over it, controls and channelise it towards the nobler direction in which we need to work to shape our destiny.Swamiji also released a bhajan album created by famous singer Mrs Bimla Pradhan of Sikkim.
After vote of thanks by Shri S D Dhakal, Vice President, the programme ended with national anthem and prasadam. The progamme was coordinated by S K Sarda, General Secretary of Chinmaya Mission-Sikkim.
Chintan Bhawan’s Deputy Director Smt Bipula Sharma worked tirelessly for the successful programme of Swamiji at their convention hall.
Recent achievements by selected youths of Sikkim in the field of academics, sports and music proves beyond doubt that many youths of the State have enormous quest and potential to achieve great things in life. They are seriously in need of right insight, guidance, strategy and motivation.
It has also been equally challenging to the parents of Sikkim to groom their children to grow up as successful and responsible citizens.
The talk of Swamiji on “Shape Your Destiny” did wonder on the minds of +400 Youths of Sikkim and they will be a positive contributor to themselves and the society in which they work.
On 12th December 2017, Swami Mitrananda addressed the meeting with CHYK Group of Sikkim which had the presence of Govind Dhakal- its president and their active members.
On 13th December 17, both the Swamiji visited Chinmaya Ashram at Jalipool, about 12 Kms from Gangtok . They were warmly received by Smaran Chaitanyaji, committee members, local spiritual seekers, Bal Vihar students.
Swamiji enquired about the plan to develop the existing vacant space in this Ashram which is around 1.5 acres. He suggested how the land can be utilized for building structures which can help Mission to expand its activities.
Swamiji thanked Smt Ratna Subba and Shri S B Subba for the hospitality shown at their Hotel Sikkim Delight. Yuvaveer Tanam Subba also was in Gangtok during Swamiji’s visit.
