In the family…we play various roles.
AT HOME a woman is…daughter…mother…wife…
daughter-in-law…sister-in-law…and so on.
In office…manager…worker…employer.
For a man too it is similar.
Every role comes with duties.
Diverse and distinct. …
Different in each relationship…towards…
mother…spouse…children…employer.
YET there is a commonality…
WHAT IS THE COMMON FACTOR IN THESE ROLES?
Remember by doing our duty we are really serving
our mother… spouse … in-laws … children.
The duties may be different…
but the spirit of service (seva) is common.
Through different roles and diverse duties
all we are doing is seva – serving others.
With this perception…there can be
NO COMPARTMENTALIZATION…
NO CONFLICT.
Ask yourself…“How did I perform the action?”
If the action was performed with an attitude of duty,
then the SPIRIT OF SEVA was inherent in that duty.
Everything is seva – only priorities change.
For instance if the child is sick…
the role of mother takes priority
over other roles (and their duties).
SHE SERVES THE CHILD…gets medical advice…
showers her love and facilitates a quick recovery.
SO even though there are different roles…
activities and duties…
when looked upon as seva … they become one.
There is no conflict of balance…
only priorities change.
