In the Hindu tradition the Guru…
is greatly revered…with a position even higher
than that of the LORD HIMSELF.
This staggering statement being so profound
is difficult to accept.
The high accolades the scriptures pay the Guru
make the uninitiated wonder whether
the worship of the Guru is a gross exaggeration.
Any stuti or praise, has an element of exaggeration
but in the praise of the Lord…His devotees…
a Mahatma…the Guru
this does not hold good.
Any tributes to them will always
fall short of their true import.
DESPITE this we ask…
what is the need of a Guru?
We require a Guru…
to remove the ignorance and the darkness…
For only a Guru’s teaching can…introduce us to ourselves
reveal to us our true nature.
The happiness we seek is OUR TRUE Nature…
And THOUGH we have it
we don’t know we have it!
The Guru in his infinite compassion…
makes the seeker realize
that he is the Infinite Brahman – Bliss Absolute!
For a Guru who teaches this Brahma Vidya…
no amount of SALUTATIONS can ever be enough.
To repay the debt we owe the Guru
is a foolish attempt…
WE CAN NEVER BE FREE FROM IT!
The highest position is that of a Sadguru
who reveals the knowledge of the Supreme.
Our prostrations to the Guru Parampara on this occasion of Guru Poornima.
