Pujya Swamiji Swaroopananda’s visit to Perth, April 2017

Swami Swaroopananda, the Global Head of Chinmaya Mission graced the shores of Perth, Australia from 14th to 18th April 2017 to give a series of talks at the Kim Beazley Lecture Theatre at Murdoch University.

The topic titled ‘Realise the Infinite’ was based on Chapter 8 of the Bhagvad Gita. Swamiji, in his gentle yet powerful narrative unfolded the true nature of the Self (the Brahman) and how we can attain the highest state of consciousness. He elaborated on the power and significance of the magical mantra “OM” and explained many other subtle vedantic concepts in his eloquent manner. The talks were well attended by over 200 regular devotees each day.

Swamiji also conducted a Balvihar workshop for children on Sunday 16th April at the Leeming Family Centre. 25 young minds challenged Swamiji with many interesting questions ranging from why does he wear the orange robe and why the sun rises only during the day to more difficult questions such as what is life after death? The children were fascinated by Swamiji’s stories of Lord Shiva and were easily driven to laughter upon hearing the mischief of Lord Karthikeya & Ganesha. He also addressed the parents on inculcating a strong value system in the children from a young age and the role Balvihar plays in children’s development.

We look forward to the next visit by our beloved Swamiji.
