On 8 May 2017, Chinmaya Mission Delhi, in partnership with Anugraha Drishtidaan and I Care Eye Hospital Noida, organised a free eye-screening camp for the underprivileged community of the basti under the Safdarjung Flyover. Swami Prakarshananda inaugurated the camp with Pujya Gurudev’s aarti and joyfully interacted with adults and children present at the site. In four hours, 205 men and women availed of this service.
Almost 180 were given free spectacles and medicines. Eight persons were diagnosed with cataract. Out of these seven will undergo the operation right away. It was such a fulfilling pleasure to see the smiles that accompanied clarity of vision. Side by side, a small Bal Vihar session was conducted. The little ones listened to inspiring stories, sang bhajans and enjoyed cool and refreshing sherbet.
In spite of the unrelenting heat of Delhi’s summer, the sevaks and sevikas served with cheerful dedication. On this most auspicious day they engaged in Narayana sewa as an offering to Pujya Gurudev – an offering to Narayana Himself. It was truly a Sewa Day on Gurudev’s birthday.
