Chinmaya Mission Boston had the good fortune to have Swami Bodhatmanandaji visit for a 7 day lecture series, April 8-14, 2017 on Vakya Vrtti. Swamiji has great respect for the Guru Parampara tradition, has love of Vedanta study and introspection and is an inspiring teacher. Swamiji’s main lectures were on Vakya Vrtti in the evenings and in addition he conducted morning lectures on Ramcharitmanas Kishkindha Kand.
The lectures covered all 53 slokas of Adi Shankara’s Vakya Vrtti, an exhaustive analysis revealing our infinite nature. Swamiji analyzed and captured the essence of each sloka and made it accessible to the audience. Swamiji’s skillful analysis with appropriate everyday life examples helped us understand this subtle, deep and profound text. He was able to help us reconcile the seemingly contradictory statement “Tat-Tvam-Asi” that declares the oneness between Paramatma (infinite) and names & forms (finite). We feel fortunate to have been in the presence of such an accomplished master of Vedanta.
Swamiji addressed members from all 4 centers of Chinmaya Mission Boston. He held Q&A sessions with Balavihar teachers, Balavihar students and with various volunteer groups. Swamiji invited members of Chinmaya Mission Boston to visit Sandeepany, Mumbai and attend his lectures. We are hoping for a return visit from Swamiji soon.
