Swamini Niranjanananda, a senior disciple of Pujya Gurudev, Swami Chinmayanandaji and serving at Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF) merged with Pujya Gurudev today, 24th August 2017 at 9:30 am.
Swamini Amma was a teacher by profession having served at Chinmaya Vidyalayas in Chennai and Bangalore as the Principal for more than ten years. She completed the Vedanta Course at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Mumbai in 1993, and was bestowed the name Brni. Tapasya Chaitanya by Pujya Gurudev. Amma went on to serve Chinmaya Mission Chennai till 2001.
In 1996, Pujya Guruji, Swami Tejomayanandaji initiated her into the holy order of Sannyasa with the name Swamini Niranjanananda. Her immense academic abilities became a great asset when she took on the editorship of Tapovan Prasad, the international monthly journal of the Chinmaya Mission.
Since her posting at CIF in 2002, Swamini Amma took an active role in shaping the landscape of CIF where she was able to express her deep knowledge and also her love of plants and trees. Amma also undertook a vigorous programme of Sadhana camps. Amma conducted marathon camps on Vivekachudamani, Bhagavad Geeta, taught all the Upanishads and all chapters of Panchadasi. In her final camp in 2016, Swamini Amma taught Bhagavan Adi Shankaracharya’s Adhyasa Bhashya on the Brahmasutra.
