Introduction

Chinmaya Mission Portland began in 1996 with a Chinmaya Bala Vihar class for 19 children conducted by two teachers. CM Portland acquired the ashram property of “Chinmaya Haridwar” on August 13, 2013. Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda, Head of Chinmaya Mission worldwide, named the center, “Chinmaya Haridwar,“ which means gateway to God. The presiding deity of Chinmaya Haridwar is Lord Krishna. On the memorable day of October 2, which marks Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, the Conditional Use Permit for the new building was unanimously approved by city officials.
